How conservative is K-State?
Conservative enough to have both Dubya and Rummy as recent speakers (Bush in 2006, Rumsfeld in 2007). Whether the perception is true or not, the Bush administration must think that K-State is a pretty safe place to be.
Keep that in mind while you read some headlines from the K-State Collegian, the campus newspaper. I just happened to pick up today's Collegian, and was surprised at what I found:
Short Order: Local Democratic headquarters receives campaign supplies after long deficiency
(This article details the prolonged lack of Obama gear at the Riley County Democratic Party
headquarters due to overwhelming demand.)
Palin, economy causing McCain to slip in polls
Negative campaigning does not help candidates
(This op-ed focuses on McCain.)
Also, there's a full-color photo on page 3 of a older black man's facial profile with an American flag in the background. The caption states that the man is a "volunteer for the Riley County Democratic Party", and that the picture depicts him "reflect[ing] on the upcoming election".
I think it's important to note that there were NO headlines for positive stories about McCain or the GOP. I'm not sayin' anything -- I'm just sayin'.
Analysis: Dude, I'm in Kansas. Kansas.
*shaking head in bewildered but amazed disbelief*
